Home HDMI

What is HDMI?

What is HDMI in digital video world?

It is High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is used for transmitting uncompressed digital video and audio data with 5 Gbps bandwidth. Remember not analog data. This HDMI interface is used to compatible AV devices. It is a single core wire which contains 19 wires inside. It is just like a vga cable in size. When using digital interface the noise created in digital to analog conversion(DAC) is eliminated.

Single wire can be used for both video and audio. So the setup is uncluttered. It supports stereo and six channel compressed audio like Dolby or DTS apart from 8 channels of 192 kHz 24 bit uncompressed audio.
