What is the purpose of USB port in HD TV?

Recent LCD and Plasma TVs are coming with USB connectivity. So you can connect your pen drive and watch the photos from pen drive. Many TVs support video playback from USB devices like digital camcorder, pen drive etc. So you don’t have to go to your PC for watching media in USB devices.

Most of the TVs do not support USB external hard drive. That needs to be ascertained with the manufacturer’s manual. If it is available it is an added feature.
